Smitten Kitchen Every Day

Matt Robinson shares his favorite new cookbook.

I love cooking with my wife and my twins, but I never feel quite sure I know what I’m doing. While this makes for a lot of fun misadventures, I wanted a little help, so I looked to fellow blogger and self-taught cook Deb Perelman and her new cookbook, Smitten Kitchen Every Day.

The book is a collection of what Perelman calls “triumphant and unfussy new favorites” that includes everything from deli Rye English muffins, two-ingredient oat brittle, and what Deb claims to be “perfect” blueberry muffins to kale-dusted popcorn, dal soup, grilled yogurt flatbread, and a garden gin and tonic (which all chefs eventually need!). In addition to the great and fun-to-play-with recipes, the book also contains a guide to measurements and suggestions for how to satisfy special diets, such as vegan and gluten-free.
